The Truth About Love
Hi, it’s Jalyn. Back again with another teaching on the fruit of the spirit and how it can help you achieve your purpose and enjoy your life. For those of you who are watching for the first time, we are learning about the Fruit of the Holy Spirit, which is discussed in the Bible. Galatians 5:22-23 says that the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such there is no law.
Some of you know that I offer success coaching and I encourage people to become the CEO of their lives. So you may be thinking, wait a minute, what does this have to do with achieving success or building a career?
Well, I’m here to share more about how things like love, kindness and self-control can help you experience success in your career, finances, health and relationships. These are the tools you need to become the CEO of your life.
And today we are going to talk about the first fruit mentioned, which is love. There were two key lessons that God helped me to understand and embrace as I read more about love:
First Truth: God is Love.
I grew up reading the Bible and one of my favorite verses was 1 John 4:16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
As I grew into an adult and gained more exposure to other cultures, religions and beliefs, I saw that for the most part, the definition of God didn’t really change. I heard the power of God and the power of love being used and defined and applied in similar ways. Whether you say God or say love, it’s the same power source.
Now think about how often we use the words God and Love. Have you ever considered that they are one and the same? When you say that you love something or someone, you are saying that you see and treat them the way that God would see and treat them. And when you call on God, you are calling on the power of love.
So just to recap: God is love and love is God. So that’s the first spiritual truth.
Second Truth: We are created in God’s image.
And because we are made in his image, we are love. This is our life force. It’s what gives us the power to create, engage, experience, innovate, heal, feel and live a meaningful life. Love is your natural state and when you remember that you start to think, talk and act differently. You stand taller, speak more confidently, and believe in the gifts and talents God has placed inside of you. You are created in God’s image. Or in other words, you are created in Love’s image. And from this place of love you can achieve your full potential.
I’m going to stop on that note because next week we are going to talk about Love and how it impacts your career. It is the difference between a dead-end job and a fulfilling career that helps you build your brand and create a positive impact.
